A Springtime Thought

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Robert Frost page

Why must everything get old? Why can't innocence last longer? Why can't things stay exciting? It really does make me sad.

An interesting mood you're in, my friend... I hope your zest for life returns soon, because this is definitely not like you!!

Yes, RT... this is all there is. And if you look closer at the things that are "old" and "unexcting" in your life, you will notice that they are just as amazing as they ever were. It is YOUR perspective that has changed.

Why?

Nothings changed Daughter, I'm Fine. I've been in one of those moods where I'm ready to conquer the world one day and hide under the covers the next. I think that's fairly normal.

I always think of this poem this time of year, always have. I said it makes me sad but I'm not sad, quiet happy to tell the truth. When I read this poem I can't help thinking of change. My kids are growing up so fast, I just wish I could freeze life for a moment, but I can't. :( Not that I'm not excited about what's to come, I am. How couldn't I be? Watching the kids grow to this point has been a miracle. I can only imagine what joy is around the corner. I want to be there for the promise of the future. To see what they become, hell to see what I become. But how can we not have some yearning and sense of loss for the past? Having experienced it, embraced it and become familiar with it.

This poem my make me sad but the present and the future have my attention and yes, my zest :)

That is beautiful!

I love spring. I love the sweet air and the tulips and dafodils - longer evenings. It brightens everything up and freshen's our perspectives.

Knowledge and experience replaces innocense. Its not as good, but better stupidity :)

Things change. Look for the good things that are left, rather than missing whats gone.
