Here's how much of a Girl School failure I am... there are only a fraction of these that actually 1) make sense to me, and 2) appeal to me as "romantic."

Sunrise coffee date: love it. MSU and I have our coffee together every morning. I would TOTALLY miss it if we didn't do it any more.

So many of these ideas are about talking. It's funny, because I remember when I was a stay-at-home mom, I LONGED for adult conversation, waited for MSU to come home so he could tell me about his day and I could somehow feel connected to that other world.

Now, at the end of the day, talking is the LAST thing I want to do. Listening is a close second. I guess romance really depends on the woman and also on what she spends her day doing.

I am musing on this topic, RT! Thanks for posting!

I don't know that taking care of my car maintenance, taking my garbage out, or doing my yard work is romantic.

For me, I get a nice warm feeling when James and I sit outside, bundled up in warm clothes or a blanket and watch the stars for a bit. It's nice to take in the crisp air, and be totally at ease with someone in the dark.

I also like it when he initiates hand holding (which doesn't happen very often) because knowing that he is thinking about physical contact with me makes me feel important to him at that moment.

It seems like the longer we're married, the less important it is to him to make me feel special. Or that he holds me as someone special to him (if that makes sense.)
But having said that, it's hard to dedicate yourself to making a romantic gesture after you've worked all day, taken care of the kids, done the household chores, and dealt with all the other things life has thrown at you.

I'm totally thinking about copying your post though, so I can quietly suggest some romance in my life too!

I have to disagree with Jen. I think someone wanting to maintain my car is very romantic, it means he wants to be around me doing things that aren't necessary fun. I suppose it means he wants to do things for me - I feel cared for.

But then watching DVD's in bed together wearing jogging bottoms and his superman T-Shirt. That's romantic too :)

I think I might do a romance post too :)
